Adults Have Many Options Today to Get Straighter Teeth

My crooked teeth always bothered me, but I didn't want to wear typical metal braces for years as an adult. I thought that was my only option until I brought up the subject one day to my dentist. He told me that there were so many more options today that I should consider. I made an appointment with an orthodontist to discuss my options, and he said that I was a great candidate for invisible teeth aligners. He said that other people would not even notice them in my mouth, and that I likely only needed to wear them for a year. I was so happy I made that first appointment, because I now have straight teeth and am so happy with my smile. I created this blog to help other adults realize they have many discreet teeth-straightening options today. No should live with a smile they don't love!

What Do Denture Implants Entail?

Your dentist, like one at Crystal Dental Care, has told you that you are a candidate for dentures. With all the types of dentures out there, do you have an idea which one will be perfect for you? Denture implants may be right for you whether you need a new set of teeth, just some teeth or even one.

Difference between Standard Dentures and Denture Implants

Standard dentures are very different from denture implants. Standard dentures are fitted over your gums and bone ridge with a plastic prosthetic. As time goes by, your gums begin to shrink and you tend to lose bone mass. When this happens, the standard denture will not have anything to latch onto and this will result in the dentures actually slipping when you talk or eat.

When slipping happens regularly, it will cause the gums to be sore and adjustments will be needed. You may even need a new set of dentures and this may certainly not be your idea of fun. If so, maybe denture implants will provide you with a better denture experience.

Installation of Dentures

There are two steps in the installation of denture implants. In the first step, small titanium mounts are placed directly in the jaw bone. When the mounts are given time, they are healed and then start to bond with the existing bone and become the root for the new denture. Step two starts when the healing is complete and involves the mounting of the new tooth on each of the posts.

For mounting entire plates in both the upper and lower jaw, denture implants are also suitable. After the two steps of implanting are complete, the dentures are now permanent. Here are some of the advantages for opting for denture implants.

Benefits of Denture Implants

As these types of dentures do not move around your mouth, they feel like natural teeth and you will not even notice like anything was done with your teeth. This provides the patient comfort when eating or speaking without getting embarrassed that they may actually fall off plus, you can eat whatever you want in comfort.

Denture implants also help to prevent bone loss and gum shrinkage unlike what the standard implants do. Preserving the original bone structure and the placement of the teeth, denture implants may also help the patient to look younger.

Cleaning the denture implants is also much more convenient than cleaning standard dentures. All you have to do is brush your teeth normally as if you have natural teeth with no adhesive creams that should keep the standard dentures in intact.

Of all the different types of dentures, denture implants have one of the highest success rates and the best part is they do not decay. Replacing your teeth? Maybe denture implants are the best for you.
