Adults Have Many Options Today to Get Straighter Teeth

My crooked teeth always bothered me, but I didn't want to wear typical metal braces for years as an adult. I thought that was my only option until I brought up the subject one day to my dentist. He told me that there were so many more options today that I should consider. I made an appointment with an orthodontist to discuss my options, and he said that I was a great candidate for invisible teeth aligners. He said that other people would not even notice them in my mouth, and that I likely only needed to wear them for a year. I was so happy I made that first appointment, because I now have straight teeth and am so happy with my smile. I created this blog to help other adults realize they have many discreet teeth-straightening options today. No should live with a smile they don't love!

3 Mouthwashes To Help Keep Your Mouth Clean After Gingival Flap Surgery

Gingival flap surgery is usually performed on individuals who have an extreme form of gingivitis or periodontal disease. The surgery involves pulling back your gums so that your dentist can easily access the areas that may be covered in tartar, plaque and bacteria. Once the areas are cleaned, a dentist at a clinic like Gentle Dental Family Care will pull your gums down so that they fit snugly around your teeth. While, this procedure helps to clean hard to reach areas, it is still important to practice proper dental care in order to avoid getting another infection. Therefore, there are mouthwashes that you can include in your dental care routine to prevent infection.

Thyme Mouthwash

Thyme is often used because of its antibacterial and antiseptic properties. It can be used to effectively get rid of any bacteria in your mouth. In order to create your thyme mouthwash, take a handful of the fresh herb and add it to a pot of water. Keep the pot on high heat until it boils. Once the mixture boils, allow it to sit and cool. You can now gargle with the mouthwash and use it to extract any hidden bacteria in your mouth. In order to get the best results, use this mouthwash in the morning and night.

Saltwater Lemon Mouthwash

A saltwater mouthwash is easy to make and it can help to protect you against a bacterial infection after gingival flap surgery. You can make your mouthwash by placing a few spoonfuls of salt in a cup of hot water. Wait for the salt to dissolve and mixture to cool before adding a few drops of fresh lemon juice. Lemon contains antimicrobial properties that allow it to reduce bacteria. Adding it to your mouthwash will not only give you fresh breath, but it will also help you to maintain a clean mouth. You should use the salt water mouthwash after each meal in order to make sure that bacteria does not return.

Peppermint Oil Mouthwash

Peppermint oil is frequently used topically in order to prevent infections on open wounds. Its antibacterial properties can also be used for dental care. Add a few drops of peppermint oil to a cup of warm water. Allow the mixture to sit for a few minutes. Peppermint oil mouthwash can be used throughout the day for fresh breath or to kill off bacteria.

A gingival flap procedure can help to stop the extreme gum disease from progressing. It is up to you to keep the area clean after surgery in order to prevent unwanted bacteria from coming back. Therefore, use these mouthwashes to help improve your dental care.
